Dealing with the Dead/Living

After reading “Consider the Lobster” by David Foster Wallace for a second time my opinion has changed a little bit, in the beginning I thought I understood where David Foster Wallace was going when he said that we cover up the pot while boiling the lobster because we don’t want to watch it die. And I felt for the lobster and thought his point was that we were afraid of watching something go from alive to to dead but really I think now that his point was that we know that it is wrong we continue to it. We know that its wrong enough to not watch it but that does not stop us from continuing the process. We keep going and continue to kill the lobsters even countless of more times. Same as other topics such as fast food, we know its not good for our health but we continue to eat. We have no idea what is put into the food. Like, the deadly chemicals that are mixed in with the ingredients that we feed on. No one seems to care enough to stop and think about it, we sort of just trust the fast food industry. We trust them not to put deadly chemicals into our foods. Our trust is betrayed everyday but we don’t seem to pay attention to that because we continue to go and spend money at these fat food chains and eat their foods.
