For this paper I used a different drafting method instead of the original high school web that I am used to because this paper had more than just a main idea and three reasons. I did not have like a formal draft but I did what worked for me which was writing down bits and pieces as they came to mind and than adding more details. And after adding more details I went back to fix the sentence structure and grammars and spellings by reading what I wrote out loud. My main concern was getting the ideas in my head on paper before forgetting them. For example in my paper I wrote about being in the kitchen with my mother and sister. Prior to developing that entire memory, all I had written down was “being in the kitchen” and the details just flowed in as I went back reading what I wrote and each time new ideas and memories came up.
With the amount of times that I read my paper I’m pretty sure I have it all memorized, word by word. I spent most of my time revising my story. Reading it out loud to see if it made sense. I realized that sometimes when I read in my head I tend to blank out words and miss them. Which sometimes end up hurting my grammar, spelling and punctuation. Reading my work out loud is new for me and it seems to be working.
Honestly, as soon as I heard the topic I knew what I would be writing about instantly because to me it would be hard to explain why rice and beans is my favorite meal. I’m not sure of the history behind it not that it matters but to me it does if I would be introducing to others. Also everyone knows what rice and beans is. Not many know of soup Joumou.
